What the Cummins Fuel Filter (FF5052) does
Fleetguard FF5052 is a spin-on fuel filter for Cummins B-series engines (4BT and 6BT). It traps fine dirt before the fuel reaches the injection pump and injectors — parts that cost many times more than the filter to repair.
In Kenya, stored diesel often picks up water and dirt from tanks, deliveries and condensation. Changing fuel filters on schedule — and sooner after a bad delivery — is the cheapest insurance a generator has.
Signs it needs replacing
- The filter is due at service.
- Power loss under load, or the engine stalling after running a while.
- Hard starting after the set has stood.
- Dirty or water-contaminated fuel found in the separator bowl.
Get the right part first time
Send us these on WhatsApp and our engineers will confirm the exact part before you pay:
- The Cummins engine dataplate (model and serial/CPL).
- Or the reference printed on your current filter.
Fitting notes
Fill the new filter with clean diesel if the mounting allows, oil the seal lightly and hand-tighten as marked. Bleed air from the system before starting. Drain the water separator at the same time and look at what comes out — it tells you about your fuel quality.
From our service records: FF5052 is the secondary fuel filter on the Cummins C80D5 (80 kVA) sets we maintain.
Frequently asked questions
Which engines does FF5052 fit?+
Cummins B-series engines such as the 4BT 3.9 and 6BT 5.9. Confirm with your engine dataplate, as fittings vary between builds.
How often should the fuel filter be changed?+
At every scheduled service, and immediately after any suspected bad fuel delivery.
Do I need a water separator as well?+
Yes — the separator removes water before it reaches this filter, and water damages injection pumps quickly.
